Questions people ask before they buy
Short answers first. If yours isn’t here, ask on the contact page and we’ll add it.
Price and payment
More on thisWhat does the price include?
Everything in the “What you get” list on the package page: the concepts, the rounds, the files. What isn’t included is in a “Not included” list on the same page, for example printing, copywriting, hosting fees, domain names and trademark registration. Anything you want on top is in the add-ons table with its own price.
How do I pay, and is it safe?
By card, on Stripe’s own checkout page. You fill in a short brief on our site first, then Stripe takes the payment. Your card number goes to Stripe and never touches our server or our email.
Do I pay everything up front?
Under €1,500 yes: you pay in full at checkout. From €1,500, you pay 50% at checkout and the balance when we deliver. The balance is due before we release the final files and transfer the rights. So Logo and Landing Page are paid in full. Brand Identity, Brand System, the Website packages and the bundle are 50% up front.
How does the second payment work?
When the work is ready, we email you a Stripe payment link for the balance. Once it’s paid, you get the final files and the rights transfer to you. There’s no second checkout on the site, just that email.
My job doesn’t match a package. Can you still quote?
Probably, yes. We quote brand refreshes (from €690), extra UI screens (€120 a screen, minimum five), a five-day UI sprint (€2,400) and custom pages at a day rate of €380. Describe it on the contact page and we’ll tell you if it fits and what it costs. If it doesn’t fit, we’ll say that too.
I’m an Italian business. Can I pay by card?
Not through the site. For Italian businesses we apply a 20% ritenuta d’acconto (withholding tax) on the fee, and a card checkout can’t handle that. Write to us and we’ll send a receipt (ricevuta) with the ritenuta and our bank details.
Is the price on the page the whole price?
It’s the whole price for what the package lists. Hosting, domain names, font and stock licences, printing and trademark filing aren’t included, and each package page says so. Add-ons cost extra only if you choose them; we never add one to your order without asking.
How does the Brand + Website bundle work?
It’s one brief and one checkout, with the brand first and then the website designed on the signed-off brand. You pay 50% at checkout and the balance on delivery, before the final files and the rights transfer. The two timelines roughly add up, since the website design starts once the brand is signed off. The price is €3,990 with the website in Figma, or €5,200 with the build.
Brand work
What’s inside the brand guidelines PDF?
Brand Identity comes with a 12-page PDF covering the logo suite and its clear space, the colour palette with codes, the type system, and how to use them in the templates we’ve made. Brand System comes with a guidelines document of about 30 pages. It adds the pattern and icon direction, stationery, the presentation template and the strategy sheet from the workshop. You can see what one guidelines page looks like in our labelled sample.
Will you print my business cards?
No. We supply the card design as print-ready PDF files and you take them to the printer you choose. Printing and paper aren’t part of the package, and the cost depends on the printer. If your printer needs a different file setup, tell us and we’ll check it fits.
What happens in the Brand System kickoff workshop?
It’s a live conversation, on video or in Bologna, where we go through what the business does, who it’s for and how you want to sound. We take notes and turn them into a strategy sheet, a short document that sets the direction before any logo work starts. You see it and can correct it before we begin on concepts.
Brand Identity or Brand System: which one do I need?
Brand Identity (€1,890) is enough if you need a logo, colours, type, a short guidelines PDF and a few templates to get going. Brand System (€3,900) is for a business that has several people or suppliers using the brand and needs it written down in more detail, with the workshop, strategy sheet, pattern and icon direction, stationery and presentation template. If you’re unsure, start with Brand Identity; a system is easier to add than to unpick.
Revisions and “what if”
More on thisWhat counts as a revision round?
One consolidated list of changes, sent together, on the concept you chose. We make the changes, you look, and that’s one round used. Changes sent in pieces over a week count as the round you sent them in. Asking for a different direction is a new concept, not a round.
What if I don’t like the first concepts?
Brand Identity, Brand System and the Brand + Website bundle include one fresh concept round if none of the first concepts work. Logo doesn’t, so a new concept there is €290. If you decide to stop after the first concepts, you pay for the work done so far, which we set at 50% of the package price, and you don’t receive final files. If you’re a private customer, the withdrawal rules also apply: see the withdrawal question below.
What if I need more changes than the package includes?
An extra revision round is €150. An extra concept is €290. If you’re near the end of your rounds and unsure, ask us. We’ll tell you whether one more round will get you there.
Files and ownership
More on thisWho owns the files and the design?
You do, once the package is paid in full. We assign you the economic rights in the final delivered files in writing. Concepts you didn’t choose stay with us. A designer’s right to be credited can’t legally be transferred; we won’t insist on a credit if you’d rather skip it.
What file formats do I get?
Logos come as SVG, EPS, PDF and PNG, so they work for a sign shop, a printer, a website and a social avatar. Guidelines come as a PDF. For web work you get the Figma file, plus the exported assets, plus the built site files if you chose the build option.
What about fonts and stock images?
Third-party fonts and images have their own licences. We pick fonts you can license without a corporate budget wherever we can, and list every font and its licence in the handover. If a font needs buying, you buy that licence; it’s separate from our fee.
Can you register or protect my logo as a trademark?
No. We check for obvious conflicts in a quick search, but we don’t carry out a legal trademark clearance, and we can’t promise a mark is registrable or free of conflicts. To register a mark, talk to a trademark attorney or the Italian UIBM or the EUIPO.
Do you use AI?
We may use AI tools for research, ideation or production support. Final deliverables are reviewed and finished by a human designer. We don’t upload your confidential materials to public AI tools without your permission. Elements generated with AI may have weaker copyright protection, so tell us if you need fully human-authored work.
Will you show my project in your portfolio?
We may, unless you ask us not to. There’s a box on the order page that says “Please don’t show this project in your portfolio”. Tick it and we won’t, and it costs nothing.
Timelines
More on thisHow long does it take?
About two weeks for Logo, three to four for Brand Identity and five to six for Brand System. The web packages show their own timelines on their pages. These are estimates, counted from when we have your brief and your answers, and they depend on how quickly we both reply.
What if I go quiet, or I’m slow to reply?
The clock only runs while we’re working. If we’ve waited 14 days for your feedback, the project pauses. If we’ve heard nothing for 60 days, we close it and ask for payment for the work done. Reply any time before then and we pick up where we stopped.
Can you do it faster?
Sometimes. A rush is +30% on the package price, and we tell you whether the date is possible before you pay. The checkout has no rush option, so ask on the contact page first.
Websites
Do you only design the website, or build it too?
Both options exist. The design-only price gives you the pages designed in Figma, ready for a developer or you to build. The higher price includes us building that design as a static site. You choose on the package page and on the order page.
Does the price include hosting?
No. Hosting and the domain name are separate and you pay them directly to the provider you choose. A static site is cheap to host and has no recurring fee from us. We can tell you what to ask for when you pick a host. Maintenance after delivery isn’t included.
Can I edit the site myself? Is there a CMS?
The built sites are static, which means no admin panel. To change text, you change the files or ask us. If you need a CMS or a shop, that’s a custom quote, not one of the fixed packages.
Who writes the words for the pages?
You do. We design around your real copy and tidy headings and labels where they need it. Copywriting isn’t included in the web packages. If you don’t have copy yet, write a rough draft first; the design will be better for it.
What if I need more pages than the package covers?
An extra page is €190 to design and €120 to build. Website covers 5 to 8 pages and Larger Website covers up to 12. If you’re near the edge, tell us the page list on the order page and we’ll say whether it fits.
Can my developer use the Figma file?
Yes. That’s what the design-only option is for. You get the Figma file with organised pages, styles and components, plus exported assets. If something is unclear, a developer can email us with questions after handover.
Can I edit the website myself?
Not through an admin panel, no. The built sites are static, so there’s no CMS. To change something, your developer edits the code, or you ask us and we quote the change. If you want a CMS or a shop, that’s a custom quote rather than one of the fixed packages.
Tax and receipts
Do you charge VAT?
No. Buying Designer is run by Matteo Parmeggiani, a private individual providing occasional services (prestazione occasionale), so the prices you see are final.
What receipt do I get?
Stripe sends a payment receipt as soon as you pay. We also send our own receipt (ricevuta) for each payment, by email.
Withdrawal
More on thisCan I cancel after ordering?
Private customers in the EU have 14 days to withdraw from the contract. If you asked us to start straight away, you pay a proportional amount for work already done, and the right ends once the service is fully performed. Business customers don’t have a statutory withdrawal right; the terms say what happens if you cancel before and after kickoff. The withdrawal form is online.
Working with us
Who is behind Buying Designer?
Matteo Parmeggiani, a private individual based in Bologna. Buying Designer is the name under which he offers design work. We’re new, which is why we publish our prices, terms and sample work rather than a client list. Our address and details are on the imprint page.
What happens after I pay?
You get a receipt from Stripe and a confirmation email from us with the terms and the withdrawal information. We usually send our kickoff questions within two working days. Then the clock starts when your answers are in.
Are the sample projects real clients?
No. They’re invented brands, labelled “Sample project”, made to show what the packages produce. We have no client quotes or results to show yet.
